![]() Driving LessonsAt Steering Clear we follow a structured teaching programme where a skill is introduced, is then carried out by the pupil under full instruction and is finally mastered without any prompting from the instructor. The pace of teaching is varied according to the needs of each individual pupil. Each skill learnt, from moving off safely and using mirrors correctly through to town and dual carriageway driving, is supported with lesson notes for the pupil. In addition each pupil can monitor their progress with each of the 24 key driving skills, as prescribed by the DSA, through the Drivers Record which is maintained by both pupil and instructor. In-car lessons are run 7 days a week and lessons are available from 9.00am to 9.00pm. If pupils are unable to drive during the week then we are happy to arrange weekend lessons. Lesson times are tailored to individual pupil needs although a standard lesson is one hour. Intensive driving courses last no more than 2 weeks and consist of a minimum of 20 hours of in-car teaching. Attractive discounts are available. Please see the Special Offers page. Each new Steering Clear pupil will receive an Induction Booklet. The booklet includes an appointment schedule, the Drivers Record, information on the theory and practical driving test and the Vehicle Safety questions/answers which are used by the DSA examiners.
